The beginning of the year is sometimes a slow time for new music releases, but early 2019 is shaping up to be active for soul music artists – our classic and longtime favorites.

Some Classic Soul warriors will be back with new music in the next few months. The O’Jays and Chaka Khan are following up their recent hits “Above The Law” and “Like Sugar” with new albums, and Mavis Staples will be strutting her stuff with a new LIVE album.

Grammy Award R&B Legend, Toni Braxton will release her 1st solo album in eight years – “Sex and Cigarettes”. It also kicks off her promotional tour, “As Long As I Live” 21-city Tour, that kicks off January 19th. Another set of queens, EnVogue are set to return in March with new music on their album titled “Electric Café”. In the Spring, American Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, musician and lyricist Jeffrey Osborne, will release his album “Worth It All”.

There are additional reports of some early indications of highly anticipated albums coming later in the year, but with no release dates set, from artists such as Maxwell, Glenn Jones, Brandy, Wayne Brady and more.

Know any others? Pass them on!
