Three Macy’s locations in metro Atlanta are among 66 stores set to close this year.

As reported by WSB-TV, the closures are part of the department store’s restructuring plan. Macy’s said the plan is to close 150 underperforming stores by the end of 2026.

Tony Spring, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc. spoke of the decision in a statement:

“Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go-forward stores, where customers are already responding positively to better product offerings and elevated service.”

The following metro Atlanta locations set to close this year are:

  • 3360 Ventura Parkway in Duluth
  • 2100 Pleasant Hill Rd. in Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth
  • 3630 Peachtree Parkway in Johns Creek Town Center in Suwanee

WSB-TV previously reported that Gwinnett County purchased the Gwinnett Place Mall location in December for $16.5 million. As part of the deal, the county agreed to lease Macy’s department and furniture stores back to the company through early 2025. The county is planning to transfer the property into a mixed-use complex for Gwinnett residents and businesses.

So far, there is no word on a closing date for any of the locations.
