We’re all awaiting the Aretha Franklin Biopic, Respect! The cast for its Aretha Franklin biopic, where Jennifer Hudson, who was previously announced in the lead role, is putting respect on it. The film also stars Marlon Wayans, Forest Whitaker, Audra McDonald and Mary J. Blige. Whitaker will portray Aretha’s father, Reverend CL Franklin, who was also Franklin’s manager early on in her career and himself was known as the man with the “Million-Dollar Voice.”

The movie will follows the rise of Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom. Production for the movie began this month.
Marlon Wayans plays Ted White, Franklin’s first husband. Wayans, 47, looked the part dressed to impress and there’s a rumor of Oscar noms for the role he plays in the biopic.
Respect is in theaters Aug. 14, 2020.
