Throwback Thursday: The Year Was 1987

Tonight on Classix at Nite with Donna, we took a full trip back to 1987 — a year when music was bold, emotions ran deep, and memories were being made in real time.

I was 17 years old, a junior in high school, trying to figure life out one song at a time. And judging by the calls and messages, so many of you were right there with me — falling in love, getting married, dancing all night, and living your best young life.

1987 gave us:

  • Quiet storm classics
  • Dance-floor anthems
  • R&B ballads that taught us patience
  • Artists who took their time and let songs breathe

From Bobby Brown and Janet Jackson, to PrinceLuther VandrossWhitney Houston, and Freddie Jackson, this music didn’t just play in the background — it became part of our stories.

Below is the full playlist from tonight’s Throwback Thursday show.
