This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Poor People’s Campaign which is dedicated to uniting people all over the country to come against racism, poverty, war economy, ecological destruction, and morality. Roland Martin talks with Rev. William Barber who’s carried the movement since it started.
“We’ve got to change the narration and the only way to change that is to change the narrator,” explained Rev. Barber. “Roland we have 140 million people in this country who are poor or working poor…Since 2007 we have 23 states that have engaged in massive voters suppression,” for people of color.
Rev. Barber and the campaign will engage in 40 days of nonviolence with a solidarity march to stir change.
