John Legend is the only major performer speaking out in the documentary Surviving R. Kelly, a six-part docuseries on Lifetime.  The “All of Me” singer John Legend says, “R. Kelly has brought so much pain to so many people,” and has been openly supporting women’s right’s organization Time’s Up and the #MuteRKelly boycott.

Legend used his star status to speak out on his Twitter account, prior to the program’s debut on Thursday, to respond to fans who labeled him as brave for criticizing the “I Believe I Can Fly singer.

The R&B Star goes on to praise the film’s executive producer Dream Hampton for bringing the story to the forefront. Legend stated in an interview, “These survivors deserved to be lifted up and heard. I hope it gets them closer to some kind of justice.” In the last episode of the documentary Legend makes a strong claim: “Time’s up for R. Kelly.”
