Ozempic Lawsuits Pile Up as Patients Report Serious Side Effects
Ozempic, the diabetes drug that went viral for weight loss, is now facing more than 1,800 lawsuits in U.S. courts. Patients claim the medication caused severe side effects like stomach paralysis, gallbladder issues, vision loss, and kidney damage — in some cases requiring surgery.
The lawsuits argue that Novo Nordisk, the maker of Ozempic, failed to fully warn patients, especially as the drug took off for weight loss — a use it wasn’t originally approved for. If found liable, payouts could top $2 billion.
Novo Nordisk denies wrongdoing, saying the drug is safe when used as prescribed. Still, with the legal battles growing, Ozempic’s reputation as a “miracle weight loss shot” may come at a serious cost.
