So with 6 more Shows to Close out 2026, Gladys Knight has made a decision.

Her decision comes after public concern over her health, including clips from recent shows where she appeared confused or

disoriented . While she has not announced a complete retirement, her touring schedule has been reduced, and she has not ruled out

future performances. In August 2026, the 82‑year‑old “Empress of Soul” revealed on Instagram that she is “easing into fewer

performances” while transitioning into a new stage of her career and life .

The 82-year-old singer announced on Thursday, August 27, that she plans to reduce the number of live performances she takes

Knight explained the decision in a statement shared through her Instagram account.

next stage of my career and life moving forward,” she wrote. “I’ll be spending more time on projects with my husband and visiting

with my grandbabies and am looking forward to this new era.”

She thanked fans for nearly three quarters of a century of support and said she will spend more time with her husband and

grandchildren, as well as on personal projects. When wealth concerns are no longer part of the equation, as many would assume is
